Gerald Posner, attorney and author, had his first book, Mengele, published in 1986, that was followed by Warlords of Crime in1988, Bio-Assassins in1989 and Hitler's Children in 1991. Then in 1993, Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK became a best-seller and a finalist for the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for History.
Posner had found his formula for fame and fortune which he facilitated again and again; Citizen Perot in1996, Killing the Dream in 1998, Why America Slept in 2003, Motown in 2004, Secrets of the Kingdom in 2005, and Miami Babylon in 2009. In two decades he’d become a fixture on network and public television and a featured writer for newspapers and magazines.
However, his world was not, would not ever be, picture perfect because Case Closed was far from the masterpiece the mainstream media had made it out to be. Despite the public plaudits of popular pundits, Posner had painted himself into the proverbial corner as the archenemy of students and scholars of the JFK assassination. Even Vincent Bugliosi, whose volume, Reclaiming History, considerably concurs with its conclusions, claimed that Posner was culpable of "omissions and distortions".
