About 2,000 cyclists are expected to participate in the annual Courage Classic bike ride this year for The Children’s Hospital fundraiser. Participants ride on teams or individually. The ride is a three-day, 157-mile route from Leadville, Colorado through Summit County and back over quiet, country roads and challenging climbs, all with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains.
The tour this year starts on Friday, July 30 and ends on Monday, August 2. Riders will register Friday afternoon at Copper Mountain Resort. Saturday morning, participants will get started as early as 7 o’clock in the morning in Leadville. The route goes to Battle Mountain, over Tennessee Pass, then on to Vail, and ends back at Copper Mountain. Sunday morning the tour continues from Copper Mountain to Frisco, around Lake Dillon to Keystone, then to Breckenridge and finally back to Copper Mountain. Monday morning from Copper Mountain, riders will go over Fremont Pass to Turquoise Lake and back to the finish in Leadville.
